Region 2 Director
Delia Lopez, a proud member of the Tohono O’odham Nation, brings a strong understanding of rural communities, an understanding of management in Assisted Living Homes and can offer a valuable perspective from the Native American community. With 23 years of healthcare experience in elder care, she currently serves as Director of Assisted Living at the Tohono O’odham Elder Assisted Living Residence. Her leadership is grounded in cultural integrity, compassion, and her deep commitment to serving her community.
Mrs. Lopez began her healthcare journey in 2002 as a Certified Dietary Manager at the Archie Hendricks Sr. Skilled Nursing Facility, where she played a key role in its 2003 opening. She was honored to help bring Tohono O’odham Elders back “home” from off-reservation facilities, creating a care environment rooted in tradition and respect.
In 2006, she earned her Associate of Applied Science degree with honors from Central Arizona College and became a Dietetic Technician, further strengthening the facility’s dietary services. Her dedication continued in 2013 when she helped launch the Tohono O’odham Elder Assisted Living Residence. As a credentialed Assisted Living Manager, she oversaw the Home’s development – from staffing and furnishings to policies and resident care.
Mrs. Lopez’s work is guided by O’odham Centered Care, a model that honors the Himdag (way of life) of her people. Through her leadership under the Tohono O’odham Nursing Care Authority, Mrs. Lopez continues to serve her Elders and rural community with unwavering dedication and commitment.
