Course Description:

As facilities are no longer able to postpone getting “survey ready” until just before the facility window opens, it is increasingly critical that survey readiness become a daily task.  This session will focus on Survey Readiness: Key components for being survey ready every day; tools and resources for survey readiness; staff training priorities; and health inspection implementation strategies with case examples.

Learning Objectives

  1. Identify the key components for being survey ready every day.
  2. Be familiar with resources for survey readiness tools.
  3. Describe objectives for staff training on survey readiness.
  4. Discuss strategies for implementation of survey readiness.

Course Content

  • 15 minutes: Key components for survey readiness.          
  • 15 minutes: Survey readiness tool resources.     
  • 15 minutes: Staff training objectives for daily survey readiness.
  • 10 minutes: Tips and Strategies for implementation of survey readiness.
  • 5 minutes: Questions and Answers

Target Audience:  Nursing Leadership staff (DON, ADON, Unit Managers, Nursing Supervisors)

3. Describe objectives for staff training on survey readiness

  • Review of components of staff training on survey readiness
  • Techniques for staff training on survey readiness (i.e., interviews, observations, competency checklists)

4. Discuss strategies for implementation of survey readiness

  • Weekly schedule for nursing systems audits/reviews
  • Monthly care observations
  • Team meetings/huddles
