NAHCA 2012 CONFERENCE

That time of year is quickly approaching. It's time for the raucous, two-day conference for well-deserving CNAs. The NAHCA Conference recognizes and celebrates the frontline caregivers in long term care. As caregivers that deliver 97% of the direct patient care, it is vital that CNAs are recognized for the outstanding work they do in the field.

This year's NAHCA Conference will be taking place in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the Cox Convention Center at the Renaissance Hotel June 27-28. There will be nationally recognized speakers, dynamic educational sessions, and the 18th Annual Key to Quality Awards Banquet. This year's theme is NAHCA CareForce: Proud, Trusted and Valued.

Those that will be presenting are nationally sought after speakers. They will be providing motivational sessions in exciting, humorous and inspirational fashion, motivating caregivers to continue the great care they provide every day in this country. There will be plenty of educational sessions as well. These sessions include, reducing hospital re-admissions, a discussion on NAHCA Leadership Teams and a national press conference.

The 18th Annual Key to Quality Awards Banquet will recognize the best caregivers in long term care on the last night of the conference. Awards will be given out in 23 different categories from "Best Attitude" to "CNA of the Year." These honored CNAs will be recognized in front of hundreds of fellow caregivers and their communities.

It's quite fitting that the theme is Proud, Trusted and Valued, as these three words describe every great CNA. These characteristics must show in every CNA. Our frail and elderly depend on the Proud, Trusted and Valued. With more and more citizens needing long term care, the frontline will need the motivation and the education in order to give the best care. Honoring and recognizing these great CNAs will provide encouragement to those on the frontline and extend the inspirational message back to their centers.

This June, the NAHCA Conference will be in full force providing this nation's best with the recognition, motivation and education they deserve. CNAs are Proud, Trusted and Valued, and June 27-28 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, they will be celebrated like it.

NAHCA Launches Virtual Campus of Care

The National Association of Health Care Assistants VIRTUAL CAMPUS of CARE is an on-line program designed to go beyond the compliance driven on-line training currently available in the marketplace.

"The most important difference is the coach, the actual people who serve as mentors and guides" says Lori Porter, founder and CEO of NAHCA.

"NAHCA coaches have a strong history of interactive involvement in the success of direct care workers, and NAHCA's VIRTUAL CAMPUS of CARE, (NVCC) on-line educational experience is no exception." Lori continues, "It is not enough to have an on-line experience without the personal mentoring and guidance of successful peers." According to Porter, the education involved to produce true quality of care must be "peer driven and experienced based." Only then do all the stakeholders fully realize a meaningful education."

NVCC draws from a 15 year history and over 100,000 documented field hours working directly with Certified Nursing Assistants, their immediate supervisors, and administrators.

NAHCA's VIRTUAL CAMPUS of CARE contains over 120 courses including relationship and interactive "soft skills" that combine with clinical and compliance courses to provide an extremely individualized curriculum for each participant.

NVCC is an incredibly powerful tool that goes significantly beyond compliance by elevating the professional standing and performance of participants while building a strong alliance with health care providers to maximize success and quality care.
