Is Your Facility Disaster Ready?

The Arizona Health Care Association received a grant from the Arizona Department of Health Services to develop a program designed to assist in the development and implementation of emergency preparedness plans and incident command system (ICS) training for skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) statewide. As a critical component of the health care delivery system, it has become increasingly clear that long term care has an important role to play in disaster preparedness. The goal is to assist facilities in establishing the fundamental building blocks of disaster preparedness and provide resources and training to enhance facilities’ overall emergency management capabilities; as well as integrate the long term care community into the existing network of emergency preparedness.

As part of the Disaster Ready program information and tools are being collected and developed to assist Arizona long term care facilities in determining effective and efficient ways for disaster planning and integration into their Emergency Management Program where appropriate. In addition to these valuable tools, fact sheets, disaster related articles, pandemic references, useful links, as well as announcements for upcoming events will be at your fingertips.
